Simply Saturday

The week has gone by so quickly again! This Saturday I don't have any plans but a quick dental check up today...and then time for me...whoo hoo. Here's a quick card using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp.

I have to be totally honest...when I first saw this stamp set I had no interest in it and couldn't figure out why anyone would like it. And now I absolutely love it...go figure! 

Now that I've used this stamp set, I don't know how I lived without it...lol!

Simply Saturday

It seems that Saturday comes so quickly! I can't believe it's time for another Simply Saturday. This adorable card is one we did at my church fundraiser.

I thought the stamp used for the green flower was really cute.  It's only half a flower, just the part you see. It was nice to not have to try to ink up only half a stamp...lol! I think I'm going to make a bunch of these refreshing cards in different colors to have on hand to send to people when I think of them. I make a lot of cards but don't send them out enough.

Simply Saturday

Happy Saturday crafty friends! I have a very tasty Simply Saturday to share with you today.

I received this tasty tag from my upline in Stampin' Up. Inside there was (key word...was...lol!) a Ghiradelli chocolate square. I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate immediately :)  This cute little thank you is one of the easiest things to make using either of the tag topper punches. This one used the Angled Punch and with a few quick embellishments, I think makes the perfect little "thank you" for people you want to let know you appreciate them. In the past when my mom was in the nursing home for physical therapy rehab I gave her a bunch of little chocolate thank yous that my friend had made for a Chinese New Years celebration.

It was wonderful of my friend to suggest I take the extras from the dinner for my mom to give to everyone who was helping her...it was greatly appreciated by me, my mom and those that received them!

Friday Fun

Sorry I've been so quiet lately. I had dental surgery that kicked my butt and then I was lazy for a few days! And the weather has been nice...not too humid on many days so I've been taking time to enjoy the weather too. Funday Friday is taking a summer break...but will be back in the Fall with some great cards, 3-D projects and layouts.

Here's a card I made recently at craft night that I really love.

It's not as hard as it looks...I promise! I used the Stampin' Up Hexagon Hive Thinlit to create the overlay. When you cut paper with the thinlit save the the pieces that punch out for another project. That is where the blue and melon color pieces are from. And the petals are punched using the Petite Petal Punch and the center is one of the Itty Bitty Punches with a pearl accent. A quick piece of coordinating ribbon across the card and the sentiment was a quick stamp and punch using the Artisan Label Punch which is one of the weekly deals this week with Stampin' Up. I know it's a little thing, but coordinating stamps and punches are a favorite of mine. I am not always in the mood to fussy cut, so for me the coordinating products are a lifesaver...lol!

Funday Friday - In the Garden

I have to apologize for my post being late today. I had oral surgery this week to start preparing for two implants and I totally thought it would be "no big deal". I couldn't have been more wrong - lol! I am healing well but I have one chipmunk cheek still and am still taking pain meds so I have been out of it a bit this week.

Here is what I have for this week's challenge:

I colored in the stamped image with my SU markers and then softened the lines with the water color pen. I went back over the flower a little with marker after the water dried to darken up the center to give a little dimension. One of the things I like about this sentiment is it's versatility - you can use it for a birthday, thinking of you, almost any reason you have to drop someone a card to let them  know you are thinking of them.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday! Here's a cute and quick card I did at the Stampin' Up! fundraiser for my church.

I think this is just too stinkin' cute! I would have never purchased this stamp set prior to making this card....but now it's too cute to not have. And I just love, love, love the googly eyes! There is something about googly eyes that just tickles me silly. And you could put any saying with the card and easily make it in masculine colors and a hat for a guy.

Here is what I have for this week's challenge:

So this is not the card I originally had planned. But we all know what happens to the best laid plans...lol! It's been a tough week. I am running my first scrapbooking crop on Saturday and have been going crazy with all the last minute plans. Plus checking and re-checking everything I have together because I want to get it perfect! The seating chart, the food, the goodie bags, the raffle tickets....everything. And I think I am driving myself crazy with it. The next one has to be easier (phew!). Then our a/c died and the new one goes in on Tuesday. So with the heat the past few days I've had to get my mom out of the house every night after work and into a/c for as many hours as I can. (She has plenty of places to go during the day with a/c but insists "she's fine"...and I figure I will be just like her when I'm old too...lol!) 

So I have actually "cheated" and used a card I made about two months ago so I could get you a post for the challenge. In my yard my own flowers are up and blooming so I'm enjoying the beauty that summer brings so that is why I choose this card. The grass was easy peasy to create using the SU fringe scissors. The flowers are made from SU punches and I just used my stylus to draw lines down each petal to create the daffodil look. Cute isn't it! 

Our daffodils may have bloomed and died already,
but our new rose bush is doing beautifully!
